Power Board
At the last meeting of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board there were present the chairman, Mr. Geo. London, and Messrs. R. W. Bothamley, P. Doowse, A. W. x ress, A. Walker, L. Stewart, J. Maher, and S. Blackley. The Hutt Valley Centennial Celebrations Committee wrote thanking the board for its donation of £250. The engineer and general manager, Mr. E. F. Hollands, reported as follows:— A comparison of power sales for the period April 1 to May 31, with figures for last year given in parenthesis, is as follows: Availability rate £10,464/11/9 (£10,129/13/10); commercial lighting £2622/6/7 (£2421); water heating £3153/2/1 (£2342/14/6); power £1713/5/3 (£l7B/16/2); discounts, £2127 12/8 (£1797/2/9). Totals £15,825 13/- (£14,475/1/9). Eighty new installations were connected to the board's reticulation during May, with a further 111 adkitions made to • existing installations. The totals to June 1 are as follows: Number of installations 14,626 (13,644); ranges, 3343 (2636); water heaters installed 3469 (2540); connected load on K.W. 69,810 (59,165). The combined peak registered during the month was 10,848 K.V.A. .Units purchased for May 4,543,900, an increase of 949,300 units over May, 1938.
