PRESENTATION TO POSTMASTER
A pleasant function took place at the local Post Office on Monday last, when the staff assembled to bid farewell to their popular postmaster, Mr. A. \V. Parker, >who has been promoted to chief postmaster, Blenheim. The supervisior, Mr. L. T. Boyes, on making the presentation (5f a handsome bi'onze table lamp on behalf of the staff, congratulated Mr. Parker on his well-earned promotion, and wished him every success in his new sphere. Mr. N. N. Oldershaw, supervisor of postmen, endorsed the previous speaker's remarks, and congratulated Mr. Parker on he excellent relations that he had maintained with the staff during his term as postmaster at Lower Hutt. I Mr. Parker, in reply, said that it was with feelings of regret that he was leaving Lower Hutt. Although he had only been here for a comparatively short period he had made many good friends. He thanked the staff for the wonderful co-operation that had been afforded -him and assured them that he would always cherish happy memories of Lower Hutt. .Mr. Parker left 011 Wednesday to take over his new duties.
