Messrs. E. Johnston and Co. will conduct a sale by auction on Friday morning, next at the residence of Mr. Bradley, 5 Bauchop Road, off Waiwhetu Road. A specially nice catalogue of' modern and almost new furnishings will be offered, which include the contents of a beautifully furnished home. . The rainfall recorded at LowerHutt during February, 1939, was 0.36 inches and fell on four days,' the maximum being 0.22 inches on the 18th February. The rainfall was 90 per cent, below the average. It is anticipated that Lower Hutt Methodist Church will be crowded next Sunday, the occasion being the special youth service at 11 a.m., and the farewell service conducted by the Rev. C. B. Oldfield at 7 p.m. At the morning service the usual choir will be assisted by a youth choir of 120 voices. The service has been so arranged that the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is told in music, song and Scripture. Special leaflets have been printed to enable the congregation to participate in every part of the service. Non-church goers are specially invited, for -it is an entirely new type of service. / Two small fires broke out on Sunday in the Hutt Central School, the first outbreak occurring at 4.10 p.m. and the second at 9.25 p.m. The fires occurred in some old chairs and books stored under the school on the west side. No interior damage was done to the school, but the outside wall at 'the seat of the lire was slightly charred. The brigade very quickly extinguished the outbreaks.
