Women's Institute

The Taita Women's Institute monthly meeting was held' in Taita Hall on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Bonthorne presided over a good attendance and extended a welcome to all. Two vocal items by Mrs Steadman were much enjoyed. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Pemberton and Silva-de-Simas who were hostesses for the day. The Annual Flower Show was held in conjunction with the meeting and prizes won were: Bouquet., Mrs Dyer, 1; Wired Bouquet, Mrs Sage 1. Jar of Primroses, Mrs Pemberton 1. Vase of Jonquils, Mrs Hunter 1, Mrs Jarret 2. Vase of Flowers, Mrs JaTret 1, Mrs Pemberton 2. Special, Mrs Hunter. Vase of Bulbs, Mrs Jackson 1, Mrs Dyer 2. Shoulder Sipray, Mrs. Sage 1, Mrs Bonthorne 2. Iceland Poppies, Mrs Jarret 1. Basket of Flowers, Mrs Sage 1, Miss Wilson 2. Flower Novelty, Mrs Silva-de-Simas 1, Mrs Quinn 2. Bowl of Mixed Flowers, Mrs Hunter 1, Mrs Harris 2. Best flower in garden, Mrs Hunter. iCooking Section Prize Winners were: Sultana Cake, Mrs Wilson - Sponge, Mrs Tate 1. Nut Loaf, Mrs Joseph 1. Pastry, Mrs Tate 1. Scones, Mrs Dyer 1. Biscuits, Mrs Tate 1. Competition best Novelty, Mrs Vass 1, Mrs Quinn 2. There was also an Exhibition stall of excellent handicraft work by the Arts and Crafts Circle.
