W.C.T.U.

The monthly meeting of the Lower Hutt W.C.T.U. was held recently, with a good attendance of members. The President was in the chair. After the opening devotions, the Rev. Stirling gave a very interesting address. He spoke of our Union as being a Christian one and of the influence of mothers in the home, as they had the most to do in the training of the young. He spoke of the horrors o.f drink among the aborigines in Australia and of how science was now on the side of temperance. Arrangements were made to hold a coin afternoon for the next meeting in aid of Convention Funds. The hostesses .for the afternoon were Mesdames Heyes and Clarke.
