ELECTRIC POWER BOARD
A meeting of the Hutt A alley trie Power Board was held on. Friday afternoon. There were present the chairman, Mr. A. W. Press and Messrs. P. Dowse, K. G. Stephen, P. Robertson, C. Dowland, and A. Walker. The engineer and general manager, Mr. E. F. Hollands reported as follows: A comparison of power sales from, April 1, .1938 to May 31, 1938, with figures for the same period last year (riven in parenthesis, is as follows: Availability rate £10,129/13/10 (£ll,305/12/5); commercial lighting £2421' (£2125/8/10); water heating £2342/14/ (id (£2030/11/9); power £1378/10/2 (£IBO4/8/10); discounts £1797/2/9 (£1740/4/11). Totals £14,47,1/1/9 (£15,525/10/11). Eighty-one new installations were tested during May with a further 90 additions to existing installations. The totals (o May 31 are as follows: Number of consumers .13,044; ranges installed 2030; water heaters connected 2540; connected load in k.w. 59,105, The combined peak registered was 8,544 k.v.a. units purchased for May, 3,594,000. Mr. Hollands reported that Petoite consumers desired a collecting depot on similar lines as that at Lowei Hutt where accounts may be paid on five days a week. He had made application to the Petone Borough Council anr also to the board's bankers., both were unable to agree owing to lack o.f accommodation. The chairman stated that he would bring down a recommendation at a later meeting. Mr. Walker thanked the board and Mr. Hollands tor the improved lighting at Eastbourne.
