ESPERANTO.
The annual general meeting o,f the Hutt Valley Esperanto Club was held in the C.W.S. Hall, Lower Hutt, on Tuesday 15th. March. There were over thirty-"fivo present and the following officers were, .elected. President, Mr. W. E. Currie; vicepresident, Mr v J. Hamilton; -secretary, Miss M. Stirling; treasurer, Miss K. Stirling; jnt. librarians, Messrs. Ilton and Fischbaeher; social committee, Misses Philips, Smith, Edwards, Liver. Messrs. Barlow, Dempsey, O'Leary, and Pischbaeher. After the conclusion of general business the evening took the form of a farewell iparty, to the late secretary, Henri Thorns, who lias accepted a new post in Auckland. . Following supper, the president! .presented Henri with a gold Esperamto badge as a token of appreciation.from the members. Mr. Currie thanked Mm for the splendid work as secretary andi director of tuition. The clulb had made amazing progress during its first year and this could only "be attributed to the untiring efforts and enthusiasm of the Mate secretary. Three mouth-organ duets were given by Mr. Dempsey andi Miss Hickcy and j Messrs. Barlow and Fischbacher enter- | tamed with vocal items. A splendid 1
evening concluded' with the Esperanto Farewell Song and Auld Lang Syne.
