STOKES VALLEY INSTITUTE.

The monthly inectiny of the Stokes Valley Women's Institute was held recently, Jlrs Huse presiding, and there was a largo attendance of members. Two new members and visitors were welcomed. • ; Mrs. Hcathcote gave an interesting, account ot' the activities, of the round table conference held recently in Welton, and was presented with a dainty box of coconut ice. Mrs. Hopkirk gave a very instructive demonstration on 'basket work, many of the members participating in the making of sweet baskets.' As an appreciation a box of coconut ice was also presented to Mrs. Hopkirk. The winner of the rock cake'eonipetition was Mrs. Kay. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Cobby, Wiley and Hawthorne.
