Scout Notes
(By "Kamalri") "Buawai," of.St. Leo ■Group, advises me that his chaps paid a visit $o East Harbour last Friday, night, and spent an active and' enjoyable evening on games, indoor football anidi ending, up, after supper with a sing-song, which, so I am told, fairly "raised the roof." I would like to he a- more of interchange of visits ib: one Group and another—that's the way to get to know the other chaps ,and one of the besi; ways to learn, also.. I am requested, also, to advise those concerned that the re-union of St. Augustine's "Old Scouts" is postponed until Tuesday, 27th inst., owing to pressure of other matters. A fine muster of parents and friends turned up to St. Augustine Group's Cub Parents' . Night last Wednesday. "Aorangi" was present, and spoke during the evening, "Kauri," Group Scoutmaster, also being there. "Scarlet Feather," Cubmaster of St. Aloysius' Pack, broTight her sixers and seconds with her, and. they were particularly wekome;--The programme opened with a big | '' grand Ihowl'' of welcome fot "Aorangi/' and the 'Cubs went on to show what th'ey could do. Games and jungle dan'ces were interspersed, there was a short play, and a much-appre-ciateidi violin solo by Bruce 'Webster. Around the camp-fire the Cubs sang their favourite songs and Tounds, did stunts like "The Warrior's Return" i and "Two Little Thumbs," and finished with "Taps." The ladies o,f the Group, committee then served a gcod supper. Judging by the remarks' heard afterwards, everyone was well-pleased with the show, and the Cubs and their "Old TvolveV are to be congratulated on the' good work performed. There was one person greatly disappointed, however, and ■that was me! I couldn't come early, as I had two Scout meetings to go to, and when. I eventually arrived, everything iwas over. I felt like doing a "grand howl" Too, all on my own, but the committee ladies, always so kind, fed me ciT sausage rolls and cream cake until I felt happy again. So ;<ow I have to wait till the next Parent' | Evening, Cubs, to see you on the job again. ! 1 ' | The Scout Troops of St. Augustine i Group put, on items at the Church Fair last Friday, and were very pleased to ; be able to assist a good cause. 1 "A wise old owl sat on an oak, I The more he heard the less he spoke, I The less he spoke the more he hard— i | why can't we be like that old bird!
