LABOUR PARTY CARNIVAL DANCE.

' The .Toy and Carnival Dance held in Birch .Street Hall on November 23, again proved to be a great success. There seems to be no limit to the increasing popularity of the.se functions, there being 250 dancers present on this occasion. An item which received jiueh appreciation was an exhibition Of the Tango, Quick Step and Modern Waltz by Mervyn and Winsome Smith, both being pupils of Miss Kva Draper, J. he usual novelty dances spot waltz. Hon to Carlos, lucky number, etc. etc' — were popular features of a splendid programme. No fewer than 50 prizes wre distributed, while paper hats -.nd streamers also added to the pleasure of the evening. Mr. W. Nash, Ml'., mot with a rousing reception on his arrival. After a few brief remarks,, he and Mrs. Nash were again greeted with musical honours and much enthusiasm. Mr, Bryant's old time orchestra continues to supply tempting- music for those with the inclination to dunce, while the ever popular Fred Smith ;•* M.C, ensures the evening's programme being a successful one. Theie being spacious accommodation and the hull being particularly well ventilated, }he social committee feel encouraged to continuo these well conducted dancer throughout the summer months. The usual weekly dance is held every featurday evening and the next eavinva! dance will be held' on December 21, particulars of which will appear in a later issue.
