HOCKEY.

Senior A.

Owing to the luck of combination this season, the senior A team did not compile a very good record. On paper this team compares favourably with most teams in the competition yet they could never polish oft' any movements they made. Kunning through the names it is hard to understand why they should not have held a better position in the ladder when one sees the number of representative players included in the team. Out of a total of 15 games 3 were lost, 5 drawn, while L! were won, these tvyo being against 'Varsity and the p'romotcd Technical team, making a total of 10 points. Throughout the season Burnett proved to be the best goal scorer with 8 goals while MeLeod and H. Smith had 5 to thejf credit. Senior £, An exciting season finished rather tamely last week when Wesley defaulted to Hutt. Half wuy through the season Hutt took the lead from Huia and Petone and maintained it right to the finish thus winning the championship by two points. The team had a fine record, playing 1(3 games, winning 10, losing three. The championship points obtained by tlxis team totalled 20 out of a possible of J-\ The best scorers were Clarke and L. Muir, 1U goals each and l-'leet with 7 goals. Junior Team. This team put up a very line showing this year and finished the season as runners up to Huia A. Up to the lirst 'J games they had not been beaten but then seemed to slip rather badly, losing two mat-lies together both of these being jigains{, the lluia teams. Out of a total of Ti games 12 were won, 2 lost, making a total of points. It is pleasing to note that this team had the best goal average of the club with 11 for and 14 against. The most successful scorers were A. and V. Judd 10 goals each and J. Cuff with 5 goals. ; Third. Although this team did not. obtain a very good position in the competition much can be said in their favour This team consisted of entirely new players who should be very good with a little experience and it is a pity a coach could not have been found for them. Although not scoring many goals they possess two good scoring men in Wall and Daniel who finished llie season with a total of 7 gaols each. NOTES.

The club, together with the ladies' club, held their final dance on Saturday evening at Eva Draper's studio. The event proved to be the outstanding success of the year the hall being filled to capacity. Thanks are due to the ladies' committee for the splendid way they worked to make this and the other dances a success. A -trophy given by Mr. E. McLeod was presented to P. Hancock, oJ'4 time player, to the Senior U, team fot tjf.e begjt performance of the year. Mr. Jj. Muif accepted this trophy on behalf of his team. The Wellington team put up a very fine but unsuccessful performance against Auckland on Saturday and it is pleasing to note that Burnett, McLeod and McArtliur, all of who play for the local club were included iti the Wellington team. C. Muir, C. Kuight and V. Jud.d were selected for the Wellington team that played Wairarapa at Masterton on Saturday and" their performances wer6 very good considering .that this is their first representative gam*, / ' j'' lit!
