A FAREWELL PARTY.
A most enjoyable party was given 'ast Friday evening by the l'etone Variety Entertainers, ior tire purpose of biddnig farewell to Mr and iVirs H Pascoe, two popular members of the .Entertainers. The liunction was held in the. Central School, and a happy time spent in dancing and games, wliile items were given by several members. The Kitz Band supplied the dance music. A dainty supper was provided by the ladies' committee. ■ , jfuring tire evening the chairman, Mr. W. Langridge, referred to the splendid service Mr I'ascoe had given as pianist and leader of the orchestra. The company were very sorry indeed to loss such an obliging, efficient and popular member, but everyone was pleased that he had been promoted to tire position of postmaster at Paraparauniu. On behalf of the company, Mr Langridge then presented Mr and Mrs Pascoo with a beautiful wishing bowl, and wished them both every happiness and prosperity. Mr J. A. Asli and Mr J. Kerr also spoke and wislred Mr and Mrs Pascoe every happiness, Mr H. Toomer, on behalf of the baud, presented Mr and Mrs Pascoe with a handsome piece of brassware, and expressed regret that the band were losing such a popular ami celebrated pianist. Three cheers were then given if or Miami Mrs Pascoe, followed by tire singing of 'Tor They Are J oily Good Pellows. '' Dancing was continued until midii ight when the function was brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne.'' The Entertainers wish to express thanks to the able assistance and thanks to Mr J. A. Aslr, chairman of the Central School, for his very able assistance, which helped materially in making the evening such a success.
