A LINK WITH THE PAST.

No doubt there are si ill some in 0.,r town who remember the IJev. John Ilope, M.A., who was. ordained and 'iiducted to the Lower llutt charge on April L'Uth, IWO, and died on -June -Olh ISU2 after a brief but fruitful ministry of little niOre than two years, llrs widow. Mrs Mary U. Hope, resides n Edinburgh, at "Kailuna,'' 31 Craiglochart Park, and she has sent us an account of a little ceremony which to m place in Glasgow recently, and whi • i links the old land with the new. A little son was bom to Mr and -Mrs Hope in Knox Manse, Lower Hutt and one lovely Sunday morning a large gregation gathered to sec the manse baby christened, the late Kev JamPaterson, of St. John s Church, "Wc!ington, officiating. On a recent Sunday in lienlield St reel Church, Glasgow, before a very large congregatioe, this child of the Lower llutt Manse— now the liev Leslie Parkinson Hop", M.A., D.Ph.D-, the minister of this Church —presented his own little one to be baptised and made a daughter e.\ the congregation, the J!ev Lewis iju therland M.A., of Paisley officiating. The baby was baptised with waljr from the River Jordon, a handsome sil ver quaieh, gifted by the women of the Church being used as a lont tor the occasion. Baby received the namc.of "Elizabeth, Dcsiree Ferguson".

And so we are reminded that Knex Church, Lower Hutt. has given to t!a> Benlield Street Church, standing in om.' ot' the busiest thoroughfares of Glasgow, its minister, forming one ot iffany links that bind our Churches together all over the world.
