The first general meeting of the Belmont Boy Scouts Troup Committee was held in the Belmont Churchroom on September 13th and it was well attended. The secretary's report on the past year's (position and balance sheet were read, accepted, and passed.

A very satisfactory report was received from Scoutmaster Howie on the progress made by his Troup since its inception a year ago, and everything airgu's well for the'coming year. Scout master Howie thanked the members ef his "committee for the help and support, .they had given him over the past year.

for a fresh committee were -called and it is gratifying to note that all the members of the old committee went back, with additions to the present committee.

• Oti Monday, the 19th September, the Troup held its first anniversary in the Belmont Churchroom; it was well attended by parents and friends, and the Troup had the pleasure of a visit from the District Chairman, Commissioner, Scoutmaster and District Secretary. By a happy inspiration of a member of the committee a big birthday cake had been made, iced and suitably decorated with a miniature Boy Scout. The honour of cutting the cake suitably fell to Scoutmaster Howie, and it was en^ joyed by all. As it was the : Scouts' "own night" items were given sby the various members, ibut the surprise of the evening was the excellent conjuring shown by Scout Douglas Beattie and Scout Keith Bennett, which brought to each their Entertainers Badge.

Both the District Chairman and the District Commissioner spoke to the assemlbly, and their talks were very interesting.

■The singing of the National Anthem brought the happy and enjoyable evening to a close.
