HUTT ROAD.

PROPOSED WIDENING

A proposal to widen the Hutt road, from 26ft to 40ft from Thorndion to Ngahauranga, by using a lj-inch bituminous concrete wearing course on a 6incTi concrete base, was before the City and Surburban Highways Board- yesterday. The cost of the .actual* widening is estimated at £15,600, but adjustments to cross-section, replacement pipes, and the laying down^of concrete docks on the Kaiwarra and Ngahauranga bridges bring the estimate to £21>300. The scheme is subject to the approval of the Main Boards, such work to be undertaken in the spring and summer months. Decision was postponed until the next meeting which will be held in three weeks' time.
