AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
The lower Huit Amateur Athletic Club are getting busy for the Coming season. The annual general meeting will be held in the Lodge Room, Town Hall Buildings, on Wednesday, 26th September, when it is hoped to have a good attendance of members and intending members. The prospects for the cpming season are very bright and if Dame Rumour is correct the membership is likely to be increased considerably. A number of members of the Hutt Rugby Football i Club will be joining up. . The ladies branch, of the.club will also be strengthened numerically. At least six new ladies have signified their intentions of becoming members. Sergeant McHolm is desiroTis of getting the members together before training commences and giving a lecture on training. Far too many athletics commence training for athletics and do not know what they are doing, or why they are doing it. Although Mr. MeHolm's long suite is hammer-throwing, he ha® a thorough understanding of all branches of athletics- He has been mixed up in the game for years and has made a study of it. The club is indeed fortunate in having a man of his calibre among them.
