SOCIAL NOTES

A most enjoyable afternoon was spent on September 3rd at the residence of Mrs. H. Brooks, Queen's Road, by the ladies of the Croquet Section of the Hutt Bowling, Tennis and Croquet Club. Mrs Brooks received her guests attired in a gown of black crepe de chene. Miss Brooks ably assisted her mother and wore a charming frock of scarlet crepe de chene. The first part of the afternoon was taken up by progressive euchre. Musical items were given by Mesdames H. E. Leighton, Redding and Miss Brooks. Various competitions were indulged in. The prizes for the afternoon were won by Mesdames Hendry, Jarman., Matthews, Woods, Misses Hi Macaskill, and Wilkins.
