THE LABOUR PARTY.

(To the Editor). Sir, —I was present at the Moera Hall on Thursday evening to hear Mr. Nash explain the views and policy of the Labour Party, and was very disappointed~i;o hear a tirade of jocular abuse of the present Government, blaming them for everything that was wrong in the country, borrowing,"unemployment, high rates of interest, no settlement, and importing huge numbers of immigrants who were nof wanted. I looked round the hall and wondered how long those present had been in New Zealand and hew many New Zealanders were present. I considered it ill became the speakers to say we were not wanted —all good: British workmen. ' Now sir, what has the present Government done for us? Given us, the Moera ' Settlement, houses at cheap cost, low rate of interest on long terms. They recently built us a fine hall for recreation purposes, and practically everything we ■ could wish for; comfort for our families. Had we remained in the Old Country, would we have had the same benefits — first-class new houses, with sections to grow our own vegetables, etc. No; and iwe should be very grateful to the present I Government for what they have done for us. If the present party went out cf power would the cost of living be p.s cheap and work as plentiful with the Labour Party? Where would they get the capital? and could they manage affairs as they say they can? The Labour Party tried in England and had to give in. We should at least be thankful for the benefits received, against those we don't know of. —I am etc., A WORKER.
