PLUNKET NOTES.

Mrs. G. A. Chapman presided at the monthly meeting of the Plunket Society, which was attended by the following committee members:—Mesdames Hall, Yon. Sedlitz, Denniston, Fairbairn, Hunt, Bennett, Bock, Earnshaw, McCaw, Buxton, Tosswill, Gibson, Robinson, Sladden and Dick. Apologies were received from the A/ayoress Mrs. "W. T. Strand, and Mrs F. N. R. Meadows and Mrs Hoggard, hon. secretary. Nurse Devine read her report ifor the month of July and the following figures were shown:—Visits of adults to rooms: Central, 652; Moera, 64; Belmont, 9. Visits of babies and other children: Central, 538; Moera, 95; Belmont 13. New baby cases, 30; telephone calls 36. Prenatal: Number of Ist visits to clinic, 11; return visits to clinic, 52; patients visited by Plunket nurse, 9; patients under observation, 38, Subscriptions received by nurse:—Mesdames A, X, Lindsay 5/-, A. F. Fergusson 10/-, R^ Cable £1, W. J. Johnston 5/.-, A. F. 5/-, E. Mouat 5/-, C. J. McNaught 5/-, E. Harrison 5/-, J. T. Lewis 5/-, H. R. Farr £1. The secretary reported having posted 3000 circular letters and a good response is hoped for. Subscriptions or donations may be sent to the secretary or left at the Plunket rooms. Ways and means of raising funds were discussed and it was agreed to hold a Plunket dance on the 7th inst., the tickets to be 5/- each. Arrangements were made for a home-made supper and good orchestra. The offer of Miss Phyllis Bates to give a demonstration of dancing was accepted with thanks. Mrs. P. Marshall is in charge of the decorations. The secretary received instructions to write a letter of sympathy to the Mayoress in her illness. At a special meeting, held on the 24th August, before the business was taken, the President (Mrs. G, A. Chapman), referred in feeling terms to the death of Mrs. Maurice Denniston. Mrs. Denniston was a most energetic member of the general committee and her charming personality endeared her to many. A vote of sympathy to Mr. Maurice Denniston and family in their great sorrow was passed in silence, all members standing.
