GAS BOARD
The monthly meeting of the Petone and Lower Hutt G-as' Lighting Board was held on Tuesday evening. Present: MessTs W. G, Lodder (chairman), C. P. Brockelbank, E. Hogg, W. G-. Meldrum and V. Jacobson. .
Letters were received from the Lower Hutt Borough Council and Hutt Savor Board respectively, agreeing to the new high pressure main being carried along the stop bank to avoid cutting up the Main Street.
Miss N". Knight wrote thanking the BoaTd for its letter of appreciation of her services.—Received.
A letter was received from Mr R. H. Boys, on behalf of Mrs I>onoghue, alleging that the Board is polluting Moran's Creeks, which passes through his client's property. —Received.
The chairman,.with Mr Jacobson and the Manager, reported having purchased^ Morris truck, the body work to be done by a local firm.
The Gas Manager's report for the month of July was as follows: —Coal carbonised 602 tons; gas manufactured 5,646,000 cubic feet, giving an -average make of 14,362 cubic feet. During the month 102 tons of coke was sold and 2,032 gallons of tar. Forty-two new services had be'en installed, 43 cookers, 10 coppers, 2 caliphonts, 9 gas fires, 43 new meters. Two cookers had been replaced and 101 meters changed. Twenty-one meters had been repaired at the works.
