WAIWETU PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION.

MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING,

The monthly general meeting of the Waiwetu Progressive Association was held last Tuesday evening, Mr. C. B. Robinson presiding.

As an outcome of the Association's representations for improvements in the morning train service, a letter was received from the Railway Department stating that the 10.45 a.m., WaterlooLambton train would be re-timed to leave Waterloo at 9.35 and Woburn at 5).38., arriving at Lambton at 10 a.m. The outward service would leave Lambton at 9.2, arriving at Waterloo at 9.27.' It was decided to thank the Railway Department for the-improvement effected and also for the speeding up of the train which now brings Waterloo 25 minutes and Woburn 22 minutes from town.

It was decided to take up again the question of an improvement in the postal delivery of the district on account of the lateness of deliveries and the inconvenience caused thereby to business men in the district.

The question of installing a slot telephone at the corner of Waterloo and Waiwetu Roads was considered and it was decided to approach the Postal Department on the matter.

In reply to the Association's request '••for lecturers to attend the Association's meetings to give addresses on gardening subjects, a letter was received from the Hutt Horticultural Society stating that Messrs Ball, Edwards and Copping would assist in the matter.

The meeting decided that owing to the small number present, due to the bad- weather, the lectures be postponed to the next Tuesday, when the question of forming a garden club would be considered also.

Mr.-Copping obliged those present by answering many questions on vegetable cultivation. His answers threw much light on the peculiarities of the Waiwetu district as regards vegetable matters which was appreciated very much, especially by the new residents of the district.
