ASSOCIATION

This game was played at Hutt Becin the first round of the Chatham Cup •contest before a good crowd of enthusiasts. Marist, although two of their Senior A. players were away, fielded a very strong side. The visiting captain, won the toss the ball was. set Tolling,. Butland the local igoalie (and a good one), being immediately called upon to save a shot from Thomas. The Greens started to play good football, their passing being a treat to watch. Hutt were defending stoutly with occasional breakaways/ and from a corner taken hy Cartnell .the home players went very close to scoring, as the ball just massed the post. The' local players deserve great credit on their play in this matchy especially the second half, when the Hutt had Marist fully extended. The writer (thinks T. Chapman, Hutt's centre half, one of the best centre halfs hehas seen playing in New Zealand. TheHutt's only goal came from Lowry who was playing a great game. If the* Hutt can keep this team together then the onlookers can be sure of seeing Soccer, of a high order played from week to week. The team wearing the Eed 'colours were:—Butland, Magee, Logic, McDougall, T. Chapman, R. Chapman, Batchelor, Lowry, T. Logic, Keillor and Cartmell. -
