Minor inujries were received by two local boys on Sunday morning when a tyre of their motor cycle which they were riding burst, throwing them both some feet off the road into a hedge. The accident occurred on the Main Road near Cottle's Lane. A petition from residents will be presented at the next meeting of the Hutt County Council for a footpath on- one side of Tennyson Street (Avalon Park), en account of the danger to children owing to the traffic and the narrow width of the street. This was the inaugural meeting of the Taita Ladies' Guild, at which there was a good attendance of those interested. There was a good crowd pre- i sent and much enthusiasm, was shown. ! Taita played a good game and at times' wore brilliant. A beautiful "pot" at goal by an' Oriental player was success- i ful and incidentally gave the game to Ories. G. Gorrie and A. Gorrie scored two good tries for Taita, A. The Seventh. Grade team played a great game on Saturday and were sue-

cessful in defeating Petone by 14 to nil. Scorers for Taita were H. Phillips (2), E. Feretti (1), and Lincoln (1), which was converted by J. Beagle.

The Taita school football team, playing on their own ground, beat Silverstream by 15 to nil last Friday. Scorers for Taita were J. Beagle (2), J. Eadman (1), O. Stupples (1), and L. Searle v (l). -
