ELECTION NEWS.
Mr William Kelly addressed the To electors in the Mission Hali oh Friday of last week Mr Henry Vercoe being chairman. There was a large attendance', the ladies being in great force. Mr Ivelly'S address was a resume of bis address in Tauranga. He was accorded a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence. A telegram from Whakatane states that Mr Kelly's meeting there on Monday night was' a great success. Mr R. Wrinrht was in the cliair, and a vote of confidence was carried by a majority. Air W. Kelly writing from Whakatane on (he 21st states that all his meetings since leaving Rotorua have been of the most satisfactory charaetor. " At Pungakawa," he state's, " my meeting was more like a meeting of relatives than apolitical one." The settlors every whore have been most hospitable and Mr Kelly is satisfied that lie is going to pull off the election with a sweeping majority. Mr Kelly takes exception to our report of his Rotorua meeting and asserts that it was the one of the best meetings he ever hold here and that it was most enthusiastic in favor of the Government. Mr W. H. Herries addressed a large meeting at Opotiki last Monday ni'Hit. A good many ladies wore present. °He spoke at considerable length, strongly criticising the present Government and bis audience were with him. His address was on the same lines as delivered at other centres. A hearty vote of thanks was passed. The various polling places througout Ihi_s district have been duly notified and Friday next promises- to be a busy day.
Tn Rotorua the polling will take place in the Court hou.c as usual. Mamaku. is not included in the list, of polling places though it was fully understood' that such ■=rould be the case.
