LIBRARY COMMITTEE.
The usual monthly meeting of the Public Library and Reading RoOm Committee took place-in the Institute on Friday List. Present—'Messrs Purccll (chair) Williams (treasurer), McAulcy, Boord. Webber, Corlett, and Watt, (lion, sec.) Tho treasurer's statement which showed a balance in hand of i'ls 18s 8d was read and approved. The secretary reported that beyond tho conditional promise by Messrs L. X). Nathan and. Co., of a subscription of £ii towards the building lie had as yet received no favorable replies to the letters sent. It was decided that an enlarged- portrait of the late secretary, 11. W. Neighbour, be procured from Mr Hanna and placed in the reading room ; the cost to be defrayed by subscription. As it was'stated that magazines and other periodicals were still being abstracted from the reading room, it was decided that a notice should bo posted warning delinquents that on detection they would be prosecuted. It was resolved that a conversazione in aid of the building fund should take place in the schoolroom during the winter recess and that the Concert Committee should make the necessary arrangements. Accounts amounting to £3 9s fid we're passed for payment and the meeting adjourned.
