Resolved that the form be filled up as directed. Rotoiiua Hotel License The Chairman stated that there had been some correspondence in regard to the; removal of the Rotorua Hotel li •■ense to Pacroa. The Board would remember that the first telegram asked if there- was any objection to offer to the removal and stated that Mr S. Percy Smith would bo up in a few days with whom they might consult. He (the Chairman) saw Mr Smith and pointed out the objection which he had previously expressed to the Board, viz., tl it there would be a loss of revenue. That was the only reason whyhe thought they should interfere to stop the removal. Mr Smith considered that nothing should be done in the matter and that was exactly what the Board had previously agreed to. The- other day, however, ho received another telegram from Mr Barron asking if Mrs Morrison's house was closed and if so why he did not report. If reply he bad stated that he was not aware a report was looked for; lie had simply consulted with Mr Smith as directed. He had brought the matter before the Board at the time and they would remember that he was the only one who spoke in favor of the house' being kept open. On the 22nd inst. he had rc->-ceived another telegram asking him to rofer to Mrs Morrison's lease from the Town Board and state if it gave any right to remove- the building a»d when the lease terminated. He replied that the lease was in the hands of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Auckland.. Mr Dansey stated that he believed that there was a clause: in the lease authorising Mrs Morrison to remove her building at the termination of She lease. The Chairman stated- that members-had no doubt seen the paragraph in the papers regarding the possibility of the permission to remove being annulled. Town lii-i'itovExtEFOis. Mr Malfnoy moved that tenders be ealled for fl.) the clearing and ploughing of the Town belt section from Pererika to Aniohau streets on the road leading to the Sulphur Baths; (2.) the clearing of a road to the old cemetery from the comes of the racecourse; (•'>.) the clearing of the old Taupo Road from the Utubina to the south-east boundary of Kelly's paddock. Mr Dansey stated that he had intended to bring the matter of the cemetery before the Board with a view to taking some steps to prevent the recurrence of what had taken place on the occasion of the last interment. He would recommend that the road should be made from the corner of the race course as proposed by the Chairman, along the Maketu road to that portion of the cemetery lying on the higher ground, and that the same bo cleared and burned off; also that the fence below the creek be removed and reeroctod so as to fence in the proposed portion. After some discussion Mi' Malfroy's motiou with this amendment was earned.
GrSJLTSL PIT REGTJtATSOXs The Chairman referred to the mann r in which gravel had been taken an •• from the approach to the grave] pj pletely spoiling the work which ! done there and endangering the fence. It seemed to him that ho v. only member of the Board who to.,k n". tice of acts of this deseriptii n although it was the duty of each to draw- atti to such matters when observed. ];■ ,\. must be drawn np and published i. r • regulation of the' gravel pit, and a charge per load imposed. 11 was solved that the Chairman and Mr It be empowered to draw up regulati i'. accordingly. MISCELLANEOUS. It was resolved that clocks should be procured for the various bath-houses. Tlte Chairman stated that the level of the late had risen considerably owing t, the recent ruins, and the temperature of the Priest's bath Was now exactly \rW it ought to be. The lake had never been so low by six inches and the baths were affected in consequence. If people only knew the difficulties they had to contenij with in regard to these baths' they would not criticise so fresly. He wished tl • some of these critics had the matter ;,, attend to themselves. Mr Dansev remarked that if the Government would only reconstruct the weir on the bank of the lake near the Ohau channel amarkedimprovement would take place in tho>. springs which wer-e affected by the lake'i level. A conversation ensued as to the present mode of conveying Sanatorium patienti to the Postmaster bath when it was agreed that Dr Grinders should endeavoi to effect an arrangement with Btrßirssat somewhat reduced rates. Mr Brent thought that seeing the necessity existed for conveying patients to the Sulpl rar baths it would he a good opportunity to ' bring the proposed tramway under the notice of the Government.
