I). Kennedy's experiment in hypnotisir waa tarriel out tj the letter. When he rouu d the man by placing liis hand on his foreluad, the latter would not beliove he had been asleep for a week. Ho was as strong and healthy as when put in the trance. Dr McCarthy, speaking on behalf of the committee of doctors who had closely watched the experiment, and subjected it to the most severe test, said they considered it one of the most remarkable on record. The man undoubtedly had been in a hypnotised condition. The only nourishment the man had received was throe quarts of extract of meat and a little whisky. When hypnotism was better understood, it would become of practical service to mankind,
