ROTORUA DISTRICT SCHOOL.
A public meeting of (he householders of this district took place in tho sohoolraom on Monday night for the purpose of receiving the annual report and balance- lie L of the retiring committee, and of electing a new committee for the ensuing year. Mr R. D. Dansey, Chairman, presided and there was a good attendance.
Tho report stated that the result of the annual examination had bpen satisfactory. Shelter sheds had been erected for tho children during the

On the motion of Mr Neighbour, seconded hy Mr Ro' inson, the report ami balance-sheet were adopted. Tiio meeting then [proceeded with the election of a new committee, Mr D.insey being requested to remain in the chair. Tlie following is the re l su't of the polling which took place with the number of votes recorded for each. Messrs J-\ Hall, 23; W. K. Purcell, 21 ; T. .1. Robinson, 21 ; \V. A. .Williams, 20: IT. \V. Neighbour, 20; T. Carlyje, 10; T. .1. Fitzgerald, Ic; .1. P. Peatsou, 14; D. Griffiths, I'2. The first seven gentlemen were declared duly elected. Mrs Robertson and Messrs L)ansey, Butt, Brent, Corbott, Murray and. Scott were also nominated but declined to stand. Mr W. A. Williams acted as Secretary and Messrs .Salmon arid Yates as scruti* noers. A vote of thanks to the Chair. man closed this part of the proceedings. After the audience had dispersed the new committee held their first meeting, Mr Purcell being elected Chairman and Mr Neighbour Secretai'v.
An application from tho members of tbe Presbyterian Church £or_tho use of the Schoolroom for divine seivice was acceded to, utter some discussion, mi condition that 2s Gd per week be paid for sumo. A similar application from ihe Band of Hope was also agreed to, a chargo of 3s per meeting being imposed. Tho Chairman, Secretary and Mr W. A. Williams were authorised to sign cheques on behalf of the Committcej and it. was decided that future meetings should he hold in the Schoolroom on the.'fourth Monday of each moil) h. The mooting then adjourned.
