ROTORUA TOWN BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the Town Board was held on Wednesday last in the Courthouse, when there were present Messrs C. Muli'rov, ,1.1'., Chairman), S. T, Brent, ami K. D. Dansoy. coituEsroxDExcn. From Mr J. If. Taylor applying for a general auctioneer's license for the Colony.—lt was decided that the license be issued provided that the applicant undertakes to pay the difference of i'.~ 10s, in the event of the Colonial Secretary refusing to make allowance for the unexpired period of the special license now held. From Mis McAneny applying for the position of matron of the Postmaster Bath.—Resolved that Mrs Mc Aueny be replied t„ in the same terms as a former applicant. THE FOOTBALL CLUB. Tho Rotorua Football Club made application through the Secretary, Mr Webber, for permission to charge for entrance to the Pukeroa Recreation Ground when football matches are in progress. The permission sought for was granted under the following conditions:—(l.) That a special application be made to the Board on each occasion. (-'.) That the Board reserves, to itself tho right, to lis: the charge to bo made in accordance with tho importance of tho match, but in no case shall the charge exceed Is per adult. AM'LICATIOX FOli ItEFUXD' The Rev. F. IT. Spencer applied foil a refund of £1 being money expended by him in draining tho swamp road ami making an approach to bis lot No 5 suburban.) It was decided that Mr Sppncer be informed that the Board has no funds for tho purpose, its.revenue not being adequate to open up roads to tho suburban and rural lands; that the matter, however, as regards the thirds of rentals was under tho consideration of the Under-Secretary for Lauds and that a communication direct to him might hasten definite arrangements being made. Till; L'UKEUGA FOOTWAY. The Rev. Mr Spencer also directed the Board to the condition of the footpaths over the Pukeroa Keservo and from the main road down to the Church of England. It was intimated that it is the intention of the Board to lay out ' footpaths and carry on a general scheme of planting the reservo when the season comes round. In the meantime tho general surface man would be instructed to make temporary repairs to the paths referred to. EXTRAOUUrXAItY EXPEXBI CCItE. In regard to a communication from the auditor re tho expenditure of £2O voted to the Railway Demons!ration Committee it was decided that ho be ' informed that it was tuiito an. excep. tionul occasion which could never occur again and that considering the importance Vof the event, the-matter might be allowed to pass without further comment. • It was resolved that a bonus of 'JOs each he granted to tho following persons for extra services rendered as bath-keepers during the holidays : Mr and Mrs Hall, Messrs W. Purcell, F. Hall and John Listen.
ACCOUNTS. The following accounts wore passed for payment:—John I.iston, ss; Marchesseau, £1 15s lOd; W. A. Williams, £l 9s: Hot Lakes Ciiuoxicle, £2 10s; J. J. Craig, £2l ISs lld ; J. Lorkin, £1 ; total, £2B ISs 9d. THE CKAIKMAX's ABSENCE. Tlie Chairman announced that the Premier had granted him three months leave of absence on account of his health. An expression of regret was made for tli? cause of his absence and a hope entertained .of his speedy restoration to health. Dr Ginders. was authorised to sign cheques on Mr Malfroy's behalf in the interim. The meeting then adjourned.
