Ultimatum expires on the 15th April. Russian Squadron. London, March 19.—The St. Petersburg correspondent of the Times says Russia is sending her Mediterranean squadron to Chinese waters' to be ready to combine with the British fleet in any action taken regarding Japanese demands. Armenian atrocities. London. March 19.—The special correspondent of the Daily Telegraph continues to supply the paper with ghastly details of Armenian atrocities. ObituaryLondon, March 19.—The death is announced of Lady Jervois Georgina Anne, Dowager Countess of Glasgow. Chinese matters. Shanghai, March 19, —Li Hung Chang in asking the Emperor of Japan to agree totheaimistice, offered on the behalf of the Chinese Government to feed and pay the Japanese forces at present on Chineso soil. Later reports state that the Japanese troops hold all the roads to Pekin. Police force in trouble. New York, March 19.—Twenty-five prominent members of the New York police force have been indicted on charges of corruption. Trouble feared. Calcutta, March 19.—The Indian Board of Trade are able to raise a force of 20,000 fighting men to assist Unira Khan, Ruler of Jahdol, in the invasion of Chitral iu support of Aman al Mulk, the Mehtar, who lias been ordered by the British to leave the country. Umra Khan can also raLe a similar number of men and serious trouble is feared.
