• Timber trade. Sydney, March 19. Mr Gavin who has just returned from a visit to Europe, made in the interests of the timber trado, is convinced that a magnificent market is open for Australian timber, especially sleepers and paving blocks. The samples he took created a good impression and were admitted superior to American and other timbers. Mr Scott, who has secured several trial orders, mrungly auvuc&tes the Government's assistance in developing the trade. Sympathy for Lady Duff Sydney, March 19.—Messages of sympathy continue to pour into Lady Duff. fche has acknowledged the Premier's thanking him as the representative of the whole people of the colony for their heartfelt sympathy in her time of trouble. Arrangements are being made for the family to leave for England sis weeks. Lady Duff expressed a wish that her husband's remains may find a permanent resting plaee at Waverley and probable arrangements have been made to this end.
