Irish Land Bill. London, March s.—ln the House of Commons the Irish Secretary introduced the Irish I and Bill which is i<; a large extent based on the recommendation of last year's Committer. All improvements made since 1859 are regarded as the tenant's, unless otherwise provided, and the Bill vesta absolutely in tenants ownership over improvements on which no rent is chargeable. The fixed duration of judicial rents is ten j'ears and ropeals the landlord's right of pre-emption where the tenant has the sole right of holding. Only one year's arrears of rent is recoverable under the Bill, it includes voluntary principle between landlord and evicted tenant, and enables evicted tenants to purchase holdings by Government loans. The Bill was read for the first time. The M'Carthyite section of the Irish Party are in favour of the measure ( but the Opposition withhold the lino of action they will take.
