MANAKAU W.I.

The Manakau Women’s Institute held a social afternoon recently in the Town Hall. The president (Mrs. L. Staples) presided and welcomed visitors. Arrangements were made for trophies for the Flower Show. A visit has been made to Lever Bros.’ soap factory and Griffin’s biscuit works, and both proved most enjoyable. The junior class of the Manakau Primary School entertained with folk dances, those raking part being as follows: —Ilene Leen, Joyce Drake, Joan Scott, Leonie Barkla, Gordon Dalzell, Athol Haslett, Ray Robinson and Trevor Lister.
