MANAKAU NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent)
Mrs. J. Corbett, of Manakau, aifd her daughter Julie have left for the New Plymouth district to spend a short holiday.
A fine stag's head was secured in the Tararua Eanges at the back of Manakau last Sunday by the Phillips brothers. The head was a 14-pointer and was of very heavy timber. They were very fortunate as they had not been on the ranges long when they saw three stags together. They shot two, one fJeing a spiker. The head is now in Wellington being mounted.
The Manakau Badminton Club has settled down once again for the season. Each meeting shows the keenness of every member by the manner in which they come along, some cycling from good distances. The recent meetings show promise of having some fine players when they get into form. Badminton is an excellent sport and it is very popular in Manakau. Mr. K. Bevan is acting-secretary in the absence of Mr. J. Bryant, who is on noliday in Auckland.
