CANTON, July 12. • Plying at 10,000 feet, Japanese bombers carried out an exceptionally accurate hour's raid, the first for nearly a month. The Wongsha district was the chief sufferer, though the previous evacuation minimised the casualties.

The greatest havoc was caused among the junks and sampans at the riverside. Scores of houses were demolished at the North station, where the damage is likely to rupture the Hankow rail service. ' Twenty 'planes simultaneously bombed Wuchang. A Shanghai message states that the Japanese advancing up the Yangtse are ivithin ten miles of Iviukiang, where the Chinese are destroying everything of assistance to the Japanese, causing fears for foreign property, including British wharves and warehouses.

The Acting British Consul at Hankow has intimated that there is no question the British evacuating Hankow. “It is up to the Japanese to take all precautions," ho said. It is understood that this is also the official American attitude to the Japanese request for the withdrawal of foreign nationals in view of the impending aerial bombardments.

AIR RAID ON WUCHANG. HOSPITAL WING DEMOLISHED. (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) HANKOW, July 12. Two hundred were killed and wounded in an air raid on Wuchang. A wing ®f theh ospital was. demolished and many patients and members of the staff were crushed by falling debris. The raid on Canton resulted in 23 ■being killed and 38 wounded.
