SEARCH AT TAHAROA FOR MISSING INDIAN.
POLICE PARTY’S DIFFICULTIES
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) KAWHIA, June 26.
Faced by one of the most difficult tasks experienced by the police, the 28 officers now encamped at Taharoa are continuing the search for evidence that may throw Some light on the mysterious disappearance of the Indian, Dalu Desai, aged 42, who was last seen at Taharoa, on May 7. Under the local supervision of Detective A. J. White, of Hamilton, the activities are confined to the dragging of the lake and the searching of the sandhills and neighbouring country.
Some difficulty is being experienced in obtaining adequate firing and, while supplies of meat are obtained from settlers in the district, it is necessary for other provisions to be transported by road from Kawhia and then ferried across the lake.
