FAREWELL SOCIAL.
MR. AND MRS. S. K. MURRAY. A number of friends of Mr. and Mrs, S. K. Murray, who leave shortly for Palmerston North, gathered in the Civic Lounge last evening to bid them farev ell. Mr. Murray recently sold the Civic Lounge to Mr. H. Thornley, after having been in business in Levin for the past three years. The evening was arranged by his staff and was spent in dancing, interspersed with musical [items. At the piano were Messrs. C, Weaver and J. Murray v Ncw Ply. mouth). Mr. E. E. Hirst contributed a monologue, Mr. Thornley a humorous item, Mr. J. Murray several pleasing tenor solos, and Mr. A. W. Swan a song which caused much amusement. At an interval, Miss M. Hillman, on behalf of the staff, voiced the regret that was felt at the departure of Mr. and Mrs. Murray and their son. She referred to the pleasure it had been to work under them, and expressed good wishes for their future. The speaker then asked Mr. and Mrs. Murray to accept-a beautiful piece of crystal ware and their son (Mr. C. Murray) a small gift. References to Mr. and Mrs. Murray were also made by Messrs. W. R. Jack, Hirst, Swan and H. Walkley. Mr. Murray responded, thanking the staff for organising the function and the good wishes extended to them.
