UNUSUAL EXPLOSION.

FIREPLACE SHATTERED BY BOILING WATER. (By Telegraph —Press Association. - ) DAEGAYILLE, Last Night. An explosion occurred in the home of Mr. and Airs. E. Cassidy, of Dafgaville, last evening. For the first time in a considerable period a fire had been lit in the sitting-room, and suddenly, without warning, an explosion shattered the fireplace, scattering pieces of concrete, brickwork and mortar throughout the room, and damaging the furniture to a considerable extent. The cause of the accident was apparently due to an accumulation of water at the back of the fireplace, following repairs that had heeu carried out some time previously. When the fire was lit, water in the cavity boiled, and, as the pressure of steam became too great, there was an explosion. Air. and Mrs. Cassidy, who were seated in front of the fire when the explosion occurred, were protected by newspapers they were reading, and escaped injury.
