FLYING BOAT CRASHES.
SIX DEAD, TWO INJURED (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) Received Tuesday, 11.40 p.m. SAN DIEGO, Aug. 23. A Navy flying-boat crashed in the bay. Six are dead, and two injured seriously. Three bodies have been recovered. The 'plane was being brought down towards a landing when its twin motors spluttered and died. The machine nosedived into 60 feet of water with such force, witnesses said, 'that the bodies were thrown many feet away. During the night small boats, aided by searchlights from battleships and cruisers, were used to search for the wreckage. Divers were also brought to the scene to wield grappling hooks. It is believed the bodies remaining in the wreckage are.so wedged that it will be impossible to remove them until the machine is towed to shallower water. The 'plane is part of a squadron which has been to Honolulu several ‘times. This is the squadron's first serious accident. Received Tuesday, 7.20 p.m. SAN LUIS (Argentine), August 23. The crew of three were killed when a Pan-American airliner crashed and was burned. There were no passengers aboard.
