SHOOTING OF INVALID.
PLEADED for end of pain. WIFE COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) (Received This Day, 10.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. After an inquiry by the City Coroner into the death of William Thomas, his widow, Mary Cecilia Thomas, was committed for trial on a charge of murder. In a statement alleged to have been' made by her to the police, Mrs. Thomas eaid that at the request of her invalid husband, who pleaded to be put out of his misery, she shot him, A cable received on August '2oth stated: “Unusual circumstances are associated with the death of William Thomas, aged 60, who died from *gunshot wounds at Ohatswood yesterday. Thomas was reported to be suffering from a tubercular complaint believed to be incurable. He appealed to a doctor and also to his wife to end his sufferings. Detectives last night arrested the wife, Mary Cecilia Thomas, aged 39, the mother of three young children, on a charge of murdering her husband. Her solicitor, who did not ask for bail, told the court that Mrs. Thomas had made a full and complete statement. She was remanded till August 24th.”
