ADVANCE ON SANTANDER.
r MORE VILLAGES CAPTURED. CITY MAY FALL IN FEW DAYS (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) (Received This Day, 1 a.m.) SALAMANCA, Aug. 24. The insurgents claim to have captured a large number of villages in continuation of their sweeping advance on the Santander front. Insurgent airmen report that Santander is wide open and columns and guns are pouring out. It should be possible to enter in two or three days. Deserters reported the closing of all shops in Santander with a view to a general mobilisation. Twelve trawlers of the Santander fishing fleet have taken refuge at La Bochelle (France) to avoid capture. GREEK STEAMER CAPTURED. INSURGENTS IMPRISON CREW. (Received This Day, 9.45 a.m.) GIBRALTAR, August 24. Seventeen officers and the crew of the Greek steamer Nagos, on arrival from Ceuta, state that insurgent warships eight weeks ago captured their ghip in the Mediterranean and imprisoned the crew in Ceuta, unloaded the «argo elsewhere, and kept the ship. The captain, who was taken to San Fernando, is still, being detained. The crew, during their imprisonment, had ©nly. a loaf of bread and a quart of Water each daily.
