CURE FOR LEAKING ROOF.

After two or three years’ service it :s hot unusual for cracks to appear in the fabric roof of a saloon, through which rain leaks. This is due to the deterioration of the material under the effects of the atmosphere.

A simple and efficient cure for this is to paint it with a quick-drying 0" cc-lluloae enamel. The fabric must first bo washed down and , then, when thoroughly dry, wiped over with petrol or turpentine to make sure that every tract of grease is removed. The paint can then be applied with a brush, using a fairly full, free-flowing coat. ■ The effect is beneficial to the appearance as well as to the waterproof qualities of the top. With cellulose or quick-drying enamels a smooth finish results.

If a particularly bad crack has occurred in the fabric it may be necessary to patch it, using a piece of material of a similar type and sticking it with waterproof glue.
