NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE SCHEME.
ASSISTANCE OF FRIENDLY SOCIETIES. (By Telegraph—r Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. "Any step taken in the direction of the National Health Insurance Scheme would be taken with the full recognition of the work and the value of Friendly Societies in the Dominion,'? said the Acting-Prime Minister, Hon. P. Fraser, when addressing the conference of the Manchester Unity, 1.0.0. F., which opened to-day. Mr. Fraser said that he could not imagine any such scheme that could set aside the Friendly Societies or be carried into successful operation without their assistance. The District Grand Master, Bro. J. L. Stewart, in an address, said that it was common knowledge that the Society's records were used as a basis for calculations upon the scheme being introduced in England and they had every reason to believe the' organisation would be made use of upon the inauguration of the scheme in New Zealand.
