MID-DISTRICTS BEATEN BY 31 TO 10,
(By Telegraph-Press Assn.--Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.40 a.iu.) LONDON, December 12. The All Blacks’ defeated MidDistricts by 31 points to 10. The All Blacks met a team representative of the second class Glamorgan Valley Clubs. Eight thousand persons attended. Their opponents looked small in comparison with the AJ] Blacks, but nevertheless they started promisingly and there should have been an early score from a good passing movement, but Mitchell dashed across and saved. The attackers were apparently over excited when on the eve of a try. Mid-Districts continued surprisingly well, keeping the All Blacks’ defence busy, although the visitors apparently were taking things casually.
Gilbert kicked a penalty goal from the neighbourhood of half way, while Tindill went through from a scrum and sent King in for an easy try. Gilbert converted. He has scored 100 points during the tour. Pepper scored after Best had dribbled through. The halftime score was New Zealand 11, MidDistricts nil. Oliver was limping, but nevertheless played an excellent game and scored one of the best tries of the tour, by securing the ball at half way and beating four or five opponents and touching down between the posts. Corner goaled. Tindill dropped a goal from the twenty-live line, after which Phillips dodged down the line and passed to James who scored, Clare converting. Phillips dived on the ball when it was dribbled through, Caughey was unable to intervene owing to an injured thigh, dare converted. Mitchell scored a try and Brown scored two, the second from a run from half-way. Gilbert converted Mitchell’s try. The game ending New Zealand 31, Mid-Districts 10. Saturday’s Match. The following team will represent Neath and Aberavon in Saturday’s match with the All Blacks: — Full-back: T, O. James. Three-quarters: H Powell, Randall Lewis, Jack Thomas, J. Sevan. Halves: Morgan, Baker, Gwyn Thomas, Forwards: D. L. Evans, T. Morgan, Ivor Bennett, Griff Williams, Harold Thomas, Gwyn Prosser, Walter Vickery, and Harold Matthews.
