OHAU SCHOOL.
CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR YOUNG PUPILS. The junior department of the Ohan school were entertained by the school committee and parents at a party hold in the school grounds on Wednesday iast. A shadv spot chosen for the occasion was gailv decorated with balloons and streamers by the senior girls under the aide direction of Misses Harkness and Wall, while the children’s paper lints and 'brightly coloured frocks added to the gaiety of the scene. Tho junior children delighted the visitors liv the natural rendering of some of their dances, singing, games and recitations, in which they had hemi trained by the infant mistress, 'Miss Hughes. Several .Maori songs were greatly appreciated. Amid loud cheering Father Xmas arrived in his ear. weighed down with parcels and enveloped in balloons, but it did not, however, take the children long to relievo him of his heavy" load. Much excitement was felt earlier in the dav when a telegram was handed iu from Father Xmas announcing his intention of being present at the party. Mr. Attwood and his staff wish to convey to the School Committee and parents their appreciation of their willing efforts in making the party the success it was. Thanks are especially due to Mr. and Mrs. Penning who are never happier than when giving assistance and pleasure to the school children.
