OBITUARY.

MR. WHATA HAKARAIA. The death occurred Tuesday night ofg Mr. Whata Hakaraia, son of the late Mr. Hakaraia ,te Whena, at one time a well-known resident of Otaki. Mr. Whata Hakaraia was one of our best | known and highly respected residents. He lived all his life in Otaki and was a leading footballer, a member of the Otaki Brass Band, besides belonging to many other bodies. For the past few weeks the deceased, who was 62' years of age, had not enjoyed the best of health, but, nevertheless, had made arrangements to go farming in tho Foxton district. Deceased leaves a y idow, a daughter, Mrs. Mita Johnson, and two sons, Hema and Pirika, for whom much sympathy is felt.
