ABYSSINIANS ON ADVANCE.

, ITALIAN LEFT WING MAY BE ! SERIOUSLY THREATENED.

REVISION OF PLANS LIKELY. (By Telegraph-Press Assn.-Copyright) Received Wednesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 26. Ras Nasibu has telephoned Haile Selassie from Jijiga that the Abyssiuians are so actively pursuing the enemy that they have not yet regarrisoned Gerlogubi and Gorahai, which they found deserted.

Ras Desta’s advance, if maintained, will seriously threaten the Italian left wing, especially if backed by a rebellion of Somalis on the frontier who are already disputing the ownership of wells with the Italians, whose askaris complain they are invariably used as shock troops while the white soldiers follow behind.

The Times' Asmara correspondent says that Marshal Badoglio, the new Italian commander, has arrived and will be ceremonially received on November 27.

Italy, having concentrated the majority of her forces in the north, is committed to operating there and achieving success by advancing southwards. General Graziani, with his present force, appears unable to challenge the Abyssinian concentrations round Harrar, but, if strengthened, could force the issue much more quickly than the unwieldy northern army. Marshal Badoglio, in view of the rainy season in April, must prolong the campaign till 1936 if he does not achieve a decision within four months.

Military experts believe that Marshal Badoglio's arrival will result in some revision of the Italian plans, especially in the north, where each forward move is dependent on road construction. They suggest that the Italians may now attempt to advance more quickly by light columns without wheeled vehicles, using only mule and camel transport.

It is also reported that they may launch an entirely new attack from the extreme west of Eritrea along the foothills on the Abysinian side of th« Sudan frontier, which might enable light Italian columns to occupy the Lake Than a area in two or three days in the absence of strong opposition.
