British Imports of Mutton and Lamb
lokdon negotiations!
MORE OPTIMISTIC TONE
LONDON, May 24,
Messrs T. A. Duncan (chairman of the New Zealand Meat Board), R. S. Forsyth (London manager fon the Meat Board), Dr. R. M. Campbell (of the High Commissioner's Office), and Mr H. I. Forde (economic adviser), Now Zealand, renewed the joint experts’ discussion on the percentages of British imports of mutton and lamb which shall be supplied by Australia and New Zealand respectively during the next twelve or eighteen months. During that time the British Government will establish machinery in London ( regulating the market. No decisions have yet been reached, but it is expected to reach a formula on Monday in readiness for a renewed Ministerial meat discussion. There is now a disposition in some Australian quarters to be slightly more toptimistic. It is felt that such strong statistical trading figures have been advanced that solicitude for the Argentine cannot be sustained. It is understood that there has been plaiii speaking in that regard.
