GARDEN PARTY.

WOMEN'S DIVISION OF FARMERS' UNION. Members.of the local 'branch of the W.D.F.U. 'and their friends, who last Thursday journeyed to Gladstone Road to spend the afternoon in Mrs F. R. Wright's garden found much of interest in the beautiful flowers and shrubs, the latter providing welcome shade, where the competitions were keenly contested. The smooth gre?a lawns were laid out for badminton, and clock golf, and visitors were kept busy trying their skill at, the varions games. A most delicious tea served on the spacious verandah proved by no means the least popular item of the afternoon. Mrs Mervyn Gorringc, on behalf of the W.D.F.U., extended to Mrs Wright the gratitude of the committee -for placing her home at their disposal for this function, which, whilst proving so very enjoyable, would 'be such a welcome financial help to the branch. Mrs Wright, in reply, expressed the pleasure it gave her to be aible to help and ! to welcome so representative a gathering. Prizes were then handed to winners of the competitions by the hostess. The treasure hunt being won ; by Mrs KieTnan; the marble game 'by Mrs Ranald MacDonald; clock golf, which necessitated a play-off by Mesdames M. Gorringe, 'Denton and F.. Davies, 'was won by Mrs Gorringe, who also proved to be the winner of the croquet. Mem'bers are reminded that there will <be no meeting of the Division during December and January, the next committee meeting being held on the first Tuesday in February.
