OBITUARY.
MR. H. F. BADELEY. Following a brief illness. Mr Henry Faithful Badeley a well-known resident of Gisborne and formerly of Oaniaru, died in the Cook Hospital on Thursday, at the age of 65 years. Throughout his life Mr Badeley had enjoyed the best of health, and his fatal illness was of a very sudden nature, the deceased having- been a patient in the hospital for only a day. Though he had lived in retirement there, Mr Badeley was held in the highest esteem by many friends and acquaintances, and his sudden demise will be generally regretted. Mr Badeley was born i.n Milton, in the South Island, and as a child was taken to Oamaru, where he lived for 49 y.ears, being employed in the MeCallum sawmill for 21 years. In Oamaru lie took a keen interest in the volunteer artillery, and was also a prominent member of the Oamaru Fire Brigade for 22 years, continuing as an honorary member until his death. He was a foundation member, too, of the Oamaru Naval Band, now the City Band.
The deceased came to Gisborne, 16 years ago, and had since lived in retirement there. He leaves a widow and two daughters, Mrs J. F. Graham, of Puha, and Mrs C. Cooksley, of Otaki, to whom deep sympathy will be expended.—Poverty Bay Herald.
